Barclays emergency support to customers affected by severe flooding and adverse weather

Barclays is offering emergency support measures to help business and personal customers currently affected by flooding or adverse weather.

Barclays will help Business customers, depending upon individual circumstances, with temporary fee-free new or increased overdrafts or if required, capital repayment holidays of up to six months on existing loans over £25,000. This will allow businesses time to recover from the immediate impact of damage caused by flooding or adverse weather, or to bridge the gap until insurance claims are settled. Business customers can call 0345 605 2345 to discuss their circumstances.

Barclays Business Managers will be contacting customers in at risk areas to assess any damage or disruption caused to their businesses and offer solutions that may ease the burden on cash flow.

Barclays Agricultural Managers will work closely with farmers impacted by adverse weather conditions to understand their individual circumstances.

Barclays Agriculture can offer, depending upon individual circumstances, temporary fee-free new or increased overdrafts or capital repayment holidays of up to twelve months on mortgages and loans over £25,000, in order to ease cash flow problems of affected customers over the coming months. We would encourage UK farmers that are experiencing difficulty from the adverse weather conditions to contact their Barclays Agricultural Manager directly.

Barclays Personal customers may be eligible for a new or increased overdraft, to help them through this difficult period. Customers can apply via online banking, their Barclays mobile banking app, or alternatively call 0345 7 345 345 to discuss their individual circumstances. Our representatives will provide assistance to those impacted by flooding or adverse weather.

Barclays Home Insurance customers affected by floods or adverse weather and who can no longer live in their home may be eligible to receive support to find temporary accommodation. Barclays can arrange for emergency payments to replace essential items where appropriate.

Barclays Home Insurance customers can call the dedicated helpline on 0800 027 9844 to make a claim.

Barclays mortgage holders should contact 0800 022 4022 to discuss their individual circumstances at the earliest possible time so that we may offer the appropriate solution to their needs.

Barclays advice for what to do if you have been flooded:

·              Contact your insurer as soon as possible

·              Don’t touch any of your electrics - they could have been damaged by water and  become live

·              Start identifying items that have been damaged, make a list and take pictures if you can – this will make it easier to assess the damage and speed up your claim.

·              If you can try and lift any items out of standing water – e.g., if your carpets are saturated, try and raise any furniture off them on to wooden blocks this will prevent more water soaking into your belongings and help reduce further damage.

·              Listen in to local weather reports in case further rainfall is forecast.
