Barclays Encore! Program Helps Professionals Re-Enter the Finance Industry in New York and London 18 Sep 2017 08:13 18 September, 2017 – Barclays today announces that registration for its London Encore! program is officially open for applicants who want to participate in the 10-week programme focused on workforce re-entry after a career break. Encore! provides returners with the opportunity to refresh their professional skills through leadership and development training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and a paid working role for the program’s duration. Now in its second year, Barclays is building on the success of the programme in New York to include Barclays International’s London office for the first time, giving greater opportunities to more participants in the two largest financial capitals in the world. In addition to matching qualified candidates with open positions across the organisation, Encore! helps to increase diversity at the bank by broadening the pipeline of new hires. Kimberley Matalon, Head of Leadership, Learning & Talent for Barclays International said: “The odds are stacked against people who want to return to work after an extended period of time away and that is why we are proud to broaden the Encore! programme in London this year so that we can take advantage of the many diverse perspectives, experiences, and skills that these candidates can bring to the table.” Potential candidates in London can now complete the application form on the Encore! website. Applicants will undergo an initial qualification screening by the Barclays Resourcing team, followed by interviews in October and November. The ten-week paid program for successful candidates in both New York and London will begin in January 2018. “Many people have different skill sets, experiences, and diverse perspectives,” adds former Encore! Fellow Clare Pickering, now a Vice President in Municipals Strategy and Research at Barclays. “Even if you weren’t in financial services but you managed people or were in operations, for example, you can easily build on that experience in Encore!” Candidates for the program should meet the following criteria: Must have achieved the equivalent of a VP level or above when previously in the workforce. Must have taken at least a one-year career break. Must be able to commit to working full-time in the Barclays’ London office for the full 10 weeks and have an interest in a full-time position with Barclays after the program ends About Barclays Barclays is a transatlantic consumer, corporate and investment bank offering products and services across personal, corporate and investment banking, credit cards and wealth management, with a strong presence in our two home markets of the UK and the US.With over 325 years of history and expertise in banking, Barclays operates in over 40 countries and employs approximately 85,000 people.
