Barclays to support Pride events across the UK

Barclays is to support a total of 21 regional Pride events across the UK this summer.

Since 2014, Barclays has been a headline Sponsor of Pride in London, but this is the first time it will take a nationwide approach to the Pride campaign.

Barclays’ support at regional Pride events include attendance at Liverpool Pride where Barclays will be Headline Sponsor; Glasgow Pride as Community Expo Sponsor; Leeds Pride as Family Zone Sponsor; Birmingham Pride as Pride Partner; and Manchester Pride as Superbia Arts Festival Sponsor.

To support the national approach to Pride, Barclays will run a ‘Love Goes the Distance’ campaign across all events.  The campaign is being launched to celebrate the wealth of significant and ground-breaking progress made by the LGBT+ community over the years, however also to highlight that there is still further to go.  As old obstacles are overcome, new ones have emerged and Barclays’ aim is to shine a light on the fact that the march to equality is, as yet, unfinished.

Mark McLane, Barclays’ Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion said:

“We are incredibly excited to be supporting Pride events across the UK this year for the first time.  Pride events are a highlight in the LGBT+ calendar and by Barclays taking a nationwide approach this year, means that we will be able to join in spreading this positive message even further.  We have been a headline sponsor of Pride in London for a number of years now and extending our support, in partnership with our Spectrum LGBT+ colleague community, on a national scale is a further demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the LGBT+ community.

At Barclays, we are passionate about creating diverse and inclusive workplaces, not only in our London HQ but also across our branch network.  This extension of sponsorship means that there will be many more opportunities for our regional colleagues and customers to get involved and be part of something special and truly important to us, in the communities that we operate.”

Alongside the support of Pride events across the UK, during 2018 Barclays is also supporting New York City Pride and Tokyo Rainbow Pride.
